• Peruvian government called on citizens to mandatory quarantine for 15 days, from 00 hrs Monday 16.
• On Wednesday, April 29 - 00:00hrs, the Peruvian Ministry of Health (MINSA) reported that there are 33 931 cases of novel coronavirus in the country.
• The Government of Peru will require all visitors to fill out a declaration on arrival regarding health status, countries visited, and where they intend to stay in Peru.
• The government has announced a 14-day home isolation policy for visitors from countries of concern; currently this includes Italy, Spain, France, and China. Travelers should be prepared for additional travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice.
• The Peruvian Ministry of Health has implemented enhanced health screenings at international ports of entry.
• Patients presenting symptoms of COVID-19 who may have been exposed are referred to onsite Ministry of Health officials for potential isolation and testing.
• All arrivals of flights from Europe and Asia are suspended.
• The government ordered the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools, and also higher education institutions (universities, colleges) until March 30.

To date, UTEC is implementing a number of actions and policies intended to slow the spread of the virus and protect the health of its community:

• Following the Peruvian government measures, classes for undergraduate programs will begin on March 30. In this sense, the academic calendar will be updated and faculty and staff are preparing for delivering an on-line instruction, if needed.
• All UTEC staff, faculty and students who have two or more of the symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus: fever, dry cough, sore throat, severe discomfort, difficulty breathing, runny nose and / or tiredness and pains; are advised to stay at home, call a doctor and check his/her health condition at MINSA telephone 113. You will not be able to enter the UTEC campus until you have ruled out the disease and/or have optimal health conditions.
• All UTEC sponsored international travel for faculty, students and staff is cancelled until at least April 30. This date will be continuously evaluated and any changes will be announced in a timely manner.
• All academic activities or visits that include international visitors at UTEC are restricted. In some cases, international visitors may not enter campus until they have had 14 days of self-quarantine in Lima and filled a confidential health form.
• UTEC students currently abroad must follow local authority instructions and contact the Internationalization Office to inform about his/her situation in the host institution and the estimated date for returning home. All returning students have to fill a confidential health form before entering the Campus and are requested to have 14 days of quarantine.
• All personal international travel is strongly discouraged. UTEC faculty and staff must inform their department head in advance if they plan to travel abroad during vacations and follow a protocol when returning to campus.
• All on-campus events of 50 people or more must be postponed, cancelled, or moved online.
• International students at UTEC Campus or UTEC students abroad are required to contact the Internationalization Office by calling the toll-free line: + 51 230 5027 or via international@utec.edu.pe, if they show any symptom or have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
